R Hunsicker
R Hunsicker (e/em/eir and they/them/their) is a writer, scholar, and activist from the Adirondack Park in New York. E is a Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies scholar whose work focuses on asexuality and feminist theory. However, R is also navigating transness, (a)gender embodiment, queer menstruation, and Black feminist radical love politic in their writing. They also conduct oral histories of rural LGBTQIA+ people in Central and Upstate New York, among many other LGBTQ+ centered projects and quandaries.

About
R Hunsicker (e/em/eir and they/them/their) is a writer, scholar, and activist from the Adirondack Park in New York. A recent graduate from Colgate University in 2024, R is now attending graduate school to continue eir feminist scholarship and training. As a PhD Student in Gender Studies at Indiana University Bloomington, eir work focuses on asexuality and feminist theory. However, R is also navigating transness, (a)gender embodiment, queer menstruation, and Black feminist radical love politic in their writing.

Experience
Writer and Write-In Interpreter
R Hunsicker is one of many members of the Ace Community Survey Team. R serves as a data interpreter, writer, and reviewer of the annual survey. They also are leading the project to interview researchers using ACS data.
Community Archivist
As a community archivist, interviewer, and event outreach coordinator for Upstate Pride Memory Project, R interviews local LGBTQIA+ community members and transcribes their interviews. R also co-leads with the UPMP team to help members interview, transcribe, and upload the finished entries to the digital collection. They also oversee group communications to ensure the group is informed and on track to complete projects in a timely manner.
Speaker
R has given many presentations on trans and/or asexual topics in collegiate and community spaces. Some of the conferences and universities R has spoken at include: the National Conference of Undergraduate Research, the Annual Capital District Feminist Studies Conference, the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium Undergraduate Research Conference, the OUT in Front Conference, Colgate University, Miami University, and Mountain Valley Community College.

is given to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in LGBTQ Studies and community.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Studies Award for Academic Excellence
is awarded to a senior concentrating in LGBTQ Studies who exhibits remarkable academic accomplishments. In honor of Marilyn Thie, it is awarded by the program to a senior, on the basis of completion of the minor, a GPA of 3.30 or higher, and significant scholarly achievement in LGBTQ Studies.
Voice of Conscience Award
is given to seniors who promote a bridge-building initiative or collective vision among culturally diverse groups at Colgate University.
Women's Studies Award for Academic Excellence
is awarded to a senior in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies on the basis of the highest grade point average within the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program.
Jim P. Manzi ’73 Fellowship
is a competitive fellowship, established in 1995 by Jim Manzi ’73. Winners exhibit a demonstrated commitment to community service and the potential to pursue such work after college. Manzi Fellows receive a generous grant to offset their living and internship-related expenses and are assigned to an agency in greater Boston, working 40 hours per week for 10 weeks.
